Overview

About this course

Our International Junior Summer Camp is a residential English programme for students aged 11 to 17. Students follow 15 hours of English lessons a week and take part in activities, sports, evening events and two full-day excursions into central London every week. The camp is run by Nacel English School London, a British Council accredited school with more than 30 years' experience teaching junior and adult students.

The camp is set on a 140-acre campus in Crawley, West Sussex, a short distance from London Gatwick Airport and with fast transport links to central London and the South East. Students live and study on site, with full board and residential accommodation in the school boarding house.

What the programme includes

  • 15 hours of English lessons per week, including 3 hours of Speaking Development classes
  • Semi-Realia activities in the afternoon and evening to practise English beyond the classroom
  • Two full-day excursions per week
  • Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Residential accommodation in the school boarding house
  • Entrance fees and transport on excursions
  • All learning materials and an end-of-course certificate
  • Nacel laundry service once per week

English lessons

Lessons are taught by qualified EFL teachers using the same methods as Nacel English School London, with a focus on speaking and real communication while also developing listening, reading and writing. Classes are grouped by age and level. Our Semi-Realia method gives students a vocabulary handout and background information for each activity and visit, so they keep learning English in real-life situations.

Accommodation and meals

Students stay in supervised boarding-house dormitories with modern bathroom and shower facilities and comfortable common areas. Full board is included, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served on site each day. Dedicated staff supervise the boarding house and support students throughout their stay.

Activities, sports and evenings

Afternoons and evenings are full of sport, games and creative activities led by Nacel teachers and activity leaders: football, tennis, basketball, swimming, badminton, table tennis, athletics and more, plus arts and crafts, karaoke, movie nights, discos, talent shows and House Challenges that mix ages and nationalities to build teamwork and communication.

On-site facilities include two football pitches, tennis courts, a covered basketball court, an indoor swimming pool, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and indoor spaces such as a drama studio, computer room and games rooms.
