Mornings

15 hours of Young Leaders Model UN-based course (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 12:15)

This valuable introduction to the worlds of diplomacy and international relations will put students into the shoes of world leaders through interactive international simulations. Through fun activities, it will prepare them to become the next generation of leaders in business, politics, the law and academia.

The Young Leaders Day Camp for 11 to 15-year-olds will shape the next generation of globally-minded leaders through a carefully designed programme which develops leadership skills and awareness of global issues.

Exploring the paradigm of a Model United Nations, students will research, debate, negotiate, and learn how to take action in today’s interconnected world to be equipped for the multifaceted challenges of the future. Students will work together to achieve consensus across diverse points of view. They will learn to present their solutions in a persuasive form, developing the crucial communications skills to enable them to succeed.

Please see below for a sample of a typical week of the Global Leadership Programme:

  • Monday: The students are welcomed to the Model UN as if they are attending a real committee of the UN. They are introduced to the concept of the model UN, assigned a country team and learn about the issue that the committee will be discussing.
  • Tuesday: The students work in teams to research their allocated country’s attitude to the issue, producing a summary of their country and its position on the issue.
  • Wednesday: The students form alliances with other teams and produce proposals to resolve the issue.
  • Thursday: The students debate their proposals in committee, making speeches and arguments.
  • Friday: The students make final speeches and have a final vote on a resolution.

Our weekly topics are planned to be as follows:

  • Week 1: Security – “Cyber Warfare”
  • Week 2: Migration – “The Brain Drain”
  • Week 3: Foreign Aid – “Sub-Saharan Africa”
