What is academic IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is one of the most commonly used English exams in the world. It isn’t only for universities as professional organisations, employers, and immigration authorities also accept IELTS. The simplest way to answer the question “What is in the IELTS exam?” is to say it has four parts: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. IELTS tests are valid for two years.
There are two types of IELTS tests: general and academic. As the names suggest, General IELTS is more useful for work and immigration, while Academic IELTS is what you need to get into university in the UK, or other English-speaking educational institutions. Both academic IELTS and general IELTS have the same listening and speaking sections. However, academic IELTS is slightly more difficult because the reading and writing sections require more scholarly language, statistics, and analysis. We can help you prepare for either IELTS test.
